Oncology and Special Services
Pediatric Oncology and Special Services provides diagnosis and offers treatment for children with oncology, hematology and immune disorders. Sunrise Childrens Hospital is a full member of the Childrens Oncology Group (COG), a national organization devoted to the treatment of childhood cancer. Patients will be screened and if eligible may enter therapeutic and research protocols.
Nurses employed on the unit have passed and maintain both the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification exam and the Pediatric version so they can care for children requiring chemotherapy and other therapeutic modalities associated with the treatment of cancer in children.
Pediatric Oncology and Special Services treat a majority of Southern Nevadas pediatric oncology cases.
The unit currently performs autologous stem cell transplants.
