Michelle Bookout named chief nursing officer at Sunrise Hospital, Sunrise Children's Hospital

Las Vegas, NVMichelle Bookout, DNP, MSN, RN, NEA-BC has joined Sunrise Hospital/Sunrise Children’s Hospital, an HCA Healthcare facility, in Las Vegas, NV as chief nursing officer (CNO). The announcement was made by Todd P. Sklamberg, chief executive officer, Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center and Sunrise Children’s Hospital. Previously, Bookout served as CNO at MountainView Hospital, also an HCA Healthcare facility in Las Vegas, NV.

Bookout brings over 25 years of executive leadership to Sunrise Hospital with a focus on high quality care outcomes, excellent patient satisfaction, and a highly engaged workforce. As CNO at MountainView Hospital since 2019, she was responsible for strategic planning and operational activities for nursing and clinical services including regulatory compliance, risk management, human resource management, fiscal operations and quality improvement initiatives.

Prior to her leadership service at MountainView Hospital, Bookout served as CNO at Mercy Hospital, a Miami, FL-based HCA facility. Throughout her career, she has held various leadership and professional development positions including administrative director of Nursing Services, director of Critical Care Services, director of Telemetry, adjunct professor at Loyola University Medical Center, and professional development coordinator.

Bookout earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice-Systems Leadership from Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL, Master of Science in Nursing from St. Xavier University in Chicago, IL, and Bachelor of Nursing from West Suburban College of Nursing from Oak Park River Forest, IL.

Her certifications include Nurse Executive Advanced Certification, ANCC, and Green Belt Six Sigma, Vanderbilt University. Michelle was recently elected to the Nevada Nurses Association Board of Directors and serves as a director At Large for the Nevada Nurses Association State Board. She is a member of Nevada Hospital Association, American Nurses Association, and American College of Healthcare Executives.
