LAS VEGAS, Nevada (March 16, 2016) – Join Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas, McDonald’s Owner-Operators, Sunrise Children’s Hospital, and other community leaders as we cut the ribbon and welcome our first families into the Ronald McDonald Family Room.
Having a critically ill or injured child in the hospital puts an enormous emotional, physical, and financial strain on families. “The only thing on these parents’ minds is their child’s recovery, and they will often go days, even weeks, without a full night’s sleep or a healthy meal,” said Alyson McCarthy, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas. “This new Family Room will provide these families in crisis with a peaceful and supportive place to eat, sleep, shower, nap, and relax -- away from the critical care environment, yet right down the hall from their baby’s bedside.”
Due to the generosity of the Engelstad Family Foundation, the Del E. Webb Foundation, Sunrise Children’s Hospital, Speedway Children’s Charities, NV Energy, Lexus of Las Vegas, and numerous other community supporters, RMHC is able to bring comfort and care directly to the families who need it most – where they need it most – right on hospital grounds.
“In full commitment to our obligation as Nevada’s largest and most comprehensive children’s hospital, we count it a privilege to provide respite care resources to the many families served by the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas,” said Todd P Sklamberg, CEO of Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and president of the Board of Trustees of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas. “The Ronald McDonald Family Room is not home for these families but we will continually do our best to make it feel like a home when families need it most,” he concluded.
